The Atmosphere of Earth is a little complicated. There are five main layers in total. The first one is the troposhere. This is where we and the other living things live. Most clouds are in the troposphere. Above the troposphere is the stratosphere. Airplanes usually fly inbetween the troposphere and stratosphere. Inside the stratosphere, there is a layer called the ozone layer. Next is the mesosphere, the layer that protects us from meteor strikes. It burns up meteors so they won't do as much damage as normal. The layer above that is the thermosphere. The aurora borealis is found here. That is the stream of lights found at the poles. Finally, the last layer is the exosphere. This is where our satellites are found, orbiting Earth.

Designing houses is different everywhere. They have to fit each building to how the weather is like. My group in science is designing and building a house that can withstand a flood. It is on stilts so the water won't enter the house. The roof is slanted for rain to slide off. The gutters are connected to a machine that cleans water. This saves money and makes use of the enviorment.
As we all know, global warming is slowly destroyng the world. Although global warming is natural, the human race has been speeding up the process. Global warming happens because of something called the ozone layer. It is in a part of our atmosphere, the stratosphere to be exact. It is created by groups of three oxygen atoms. They create ozone, which creates the ozone layer. The sun's energy enters the atmosphere and the atmosphere blocks out most of the harmful rays. The ones that go through the atmosphere hits the Earth and becomes heat. Heat raises to the sky and the ozone layer keeps most of the heat in. Carbon dioxide trapps more heat inside. Therefore, we are increasing the amount of heat trapped in the Earth's atmosphere.
As many people already know, the sun is a star. Many people also know that the sun will one day die, and we can no longer live on Earth. Not many people know why this will happen. The reason is the star cycle. A star's death and birth is a cycle that resembles a cycle on Earth. For example, a butterfly starts out as an egg, becomes the larva, turns into the pupa, becomes a butterfly, and they lay eggs. Stars goes to a similar cycle. It starts out as a nebula, a clustering of dust and other small things in space. If the nebula is average, it will become an average star like our sun. Nuclear fusion starts and creates energy, which reaches us as light. Nuclear fusion is the process of which atoms are combined. Stars start off with only hydrogen. when they fuse, they become helium. As nuclear fusion continues the star gets heavier and the core is more dense. Once the core becomes too heavy, the gravity of the star loosens. It expands to a red giant. It will destroy the planets closest to it. The energy will drift out and form the planetary nebula. These energy will meet up with other energy to form another star. Meanwhile, the star will shrink to a white dwarf. Then the energy will run out and become a black dwarf. The same thing happens with massive stars. Instead of making a planetary nebula, it will make a supernova, the worst explosion in the world. It can then become a black hole or a neutron star. A black hole is dangerous and even light can not escape. The neutron star is dangerous even from a long distance. The sun goes through a cycle just like everything on Earth. After all, it is the source of living things.
In order to land the astronauts has to be able to land with little to not shock at all. This is hard for many people to do. If too much force is used to absorb the shock, it might be too bouncy and might not land on the moon correctly. If too little force is used, lets so the astronaut will have a really bad day, in space, with no other help. I am recreating a moon landing vehicle in my science class. I will use paper and straws. The astronaut will be a golf ball. The ball will be in a cup and if it falls out, it is a fail.
I few weeks ago, I played a game called the Schoolistic Bowl. It is a competition against each group to see who would win. It is also made by my science teacher. Their are six sections. The first one is where a question is givin and each group has to write the answer down on the white board. They only get a certain amount of time to write it down. Those who got it right gets a point. After the first round, our group got second. The second round was spelling. Everyone lines up in a line and the teacher says a word. They then points a stick at a student. They have to say one lettle of the word and they cannot delay. It goes on till three people are left. My group did not make the leader board but it only put us in third. The third round is a buzzer game. It is like the ones on TV, press the button before the others to answer. Everyone pressed it before the questions was halfway complete. This round kept us in third. It then repeats everything one more time with more points. We came in third in the end.
Recently, I started wondering what does a star do. I knew that the sun was a star and that it would eventually explode. I never knew what happened inside the sun or near it. In science, I started learning about the sun. There are six layers of the sun. Three of them are part of the atmosphere and the rest is the interior of the sun.
The cosmic calendar, the calendar for the cosmos. It is a group project where we make a calendar for the history of the world. An example would be when the big bang happened, it would be January 1st because it is the beginning. The beginning of life on Earth would all be cramped in December. We got one of the best grades in the class so I am pretty happy.
I have recently did a science fair project on whether orange juice has more electrolytes than Gatorade. Electrolytes are chemicals found in the body that allows it to perform certain things. Some examples of electrolytes are sodium and chloride. If the electrolytes in the body are not balanced, bad things start to happen. This ranges from joint pain, muscle pain, or a fever. Keeping a good amount of electrolyte in the body can go a long way.
We did a project in science involving the moon phases. The moon phases is how the moon look throughout the month. There are eight phases in the cycle. It starts with the New Moon. The moon is dark and has no light. It then becomes the Waxing Crescent. A small amount of light is shown at the right side. The First Quarter has half of the moon lit on the right side. The Waxing Gibbous is when 75% of the moon is lit. The next phase is the Full Moon. The entire moon is lit. The moon then goes backwards and reaches the New Moon.
