My class did a fishbowl not long ago. A fishbowl is what my teacher calls sitting in a circle with a bigger circle around it. There are five seats in the middle. The students that sit in the middle will talk about a book the class is reading. They can talk about anything they like about the book or about something they do not understand. The students on the outside will listen to their conversation. They can switch with someone from the inner circle if they choose. The students on the inner circle can pick someone that has not particpated from the outer circle. It goes back and forth until we run out of time.

After reading the Giver, my class received a project to create our own utopian society. My group decided to make our society a communist one. The community is on an island in the middle of the sea. This is so no one can target or attack us. Our weather is controlled so our crops can grow correctly. Since all of our citizens do not know of crime, no one ever tries to disobey the law. My group made a map for our society and I made a building that can be found in the city. My teacher invited other classes to come to see our projects. We acted as if we were trying to get more people to come to our community.
In my Time Magazine, there is an article called FIWSH. It is about how my partner and I became people of the year by finding a way to make water out of oxygen and hydrogen. This saves many problems as water creates life. Many third world countries can not afford water. Making water this way is more effective. Before us, no one was able to create water using elements because of how dangerous it is. In order to fuse oxygen and hydrogen, a charge is needed. Of course, hydrogen is very explosive. Oxygen only makes it worst by acting as a fuel. If done incorrectly, well, we all know what happened to the Hindenburg right? Depending of the amount of hydrogen that is used, it might be smaller or bigger. Achieving this is a great step for man kind and the future of our race.
I have finished reading the book Animal Farm. The ending of the book is quite sad. The farm is taken over by Napoleon, a pig that had control in the beginning of the book. He broke the seven commandments, the laws that govern Animal Farm. Along with the other pigs, Napoleon started drinking alcohol and acted more and more human. At the end of the story, Napoleon is seen by the other animals, drinking and partying with humans. The farm that once inspired freedom is now forced under control by another leader.
I started reading a new book called The Giver. It is a book about what life is like in a utopia. If you do not know, a utopia is a place where everything is perfect. There is no war, fear, or pain. The people in a utopia live life in a safe condition. They are safe, but they do not have freedom to do anything. The main character is Jonas and he is meeting The Giver. The Giver has memories of life outside a utopia, with feelings like pain, sadness, and happiness. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the story.
I am reading a story called Animal Farm. In the story, the animals of a farm has had enough of humans and took over the farm. The are trying to be equal but the pigs are quickly gaining leadership. I think that another animal should be the leader. I believe that Benjamin the donkey should be the leader. He is old and wise. He has seen many things and has lived longer than any animal. He can teach the other animals alot.
Pandora's Box is a Greek myth. It happens after Prometheus took fire to humans. Zeus had punished him by chaining him to a rock and let him be eaten to death by vultures. Since he can never really die, he has to relive what happened over and over. In the story, Epimethius, Prometheus' brother, also gets punished by Zeus. Zeus didn't want to take any chances on letting Epimethius do something bad too. He told Hephaestus to make a woman. When he was done, the gods made her wise, beautiful, and curious. She was named Pandora. Pandora was then sent to Epimethius with a box to be married with him. Epimethius didn't trust the gods so he told Pandora to never open the box. Over time, her curiosity got the better of her. She opened the box and evil things came out. There were things like greed, anger, and hate. When everything left, she found that there was one more thing left in the box. The thing was hope. This myth shows that hope won't show up at your door. You have to look for it.
I finished reading the story Tell-Tale Heart. It is about a man who killed someone because he hated the eye of someone else. When he killed the man, he thought that he was really smart hiding him. He said he was not crazy even though he chopped up his victim into little pieces and hid him. The cops then came to check the house because someone heard something weird in the house. When they found nothing, they started talking. The murder got self conscious and gave himself away.
The book I am reading is called Wonder. It is a fictional story about a 10 year boy named August whose face was messed up from his birth. He starts school for the first time as a fifth grade student. August is the youngest child of two. He has a sister names Via who understands August's pain and helps him through a lot of trouble. Via is kind of like me in some ways. When my mom brings me on trips to other places, she usually brings her friends as well. This would make me one out of many other kids. It is also my luck that I have the oldest out of all of them. That means I am expected to help protect the kids and boast their moral from time to time. Via does the same thing for August since she was little. She knew that whatever pain that she felt was nothing compared to the ones August felt. She understood that and she accept her life. I am looking forward to how August solves his problems of being a monster to other people's eyes.
